The primary purpose of this position is to perform firefighting and a variety of rescue/emergency response and fire prevention duties in the protection of personnel, property and equipment.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
• Performing various tasks such as: fire fighting, laying hose lines, placing and raising ladders, applying water, foam agents and chemicals on fires.
• Performing pre-fire surveys and planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with the layout, nature and location of particular hazards.
• Rendering emergency medical services as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Life Support (BLS)
