What You'll Do
In our Client Service team, this role develops deep relationships with plan sponsors, trustees, consultants/advisors and third-party stakeholders that are in our Large Market space. This person has responsibility for the retention, strategic growth, and management of client relationships in a manner that aligns with Principal’s growth, revenue, and profitability goals for the segment assigned. Majority of clients assigned are in the large market service model and may come with an industry specialization. Strategically partners with the client, advisor, other external client partners along with internal service and support team members to drive plan sponsor and participant outcomes. Shares innovative ideas inside the organization to promote best practices and create increased value for the larger client block.
• Partner with assigned large market clients to build a strategic plan which helps them meet their plan objectives by providing consultation, and solution-based recommendations within the client’s customer care model. Develop and implement targeted strategies around plan design, operational processes, services, investments, participant education, pricing, and compliance.
• Leverage product, industry, and investment knowledge to proactively differentiate Principal, quickly escalate and resolve complex problems, and expand client relationships to reduce risk to all parties and drive profitable growth and broader business results. Develop and execute on recovery strategies for at risk clients and escalations.
• Proactively identify, build, and strengthen, client and advisor relationships, including committee members and senior decision makers, across internal and external groups, through effective and timely agenda development and communication. Ensure proper documentation in required systems for required tasks/plans to ensure continuity and risk management.
• Effectively engage and participate in client finalist presentations and client or industry related events. Look for opportunities to promote the client through award recognition, nomination, and other industry events. Perform other job-related duties including timely documentation of key stakeholder engagements and required tasks, business plan management, or special projects as required. Act as an informal leader within the organization inspiring teams to serve clients.

• 10+ years of related industry experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.7+ years of relationship management experience and sales related experience preferred.
• Must possess excellent leadership, presentation, negotiation, organization, problem solving, persuasive communication, critical thinking, and planning skills.
• Travel approximately 25-50% of the time. Overnight stays are required.
• Understanding of the broader marketplace and competitive landscape
• Preferred company product knowledge
• Must be able to demonstrate experience building client relationships and influencing at all levels but especially at the KDM, committee, or senior executive level; while building and executing on a strategy, successfully dealing with ambiguity to drive results.
Licensing will be required based on state/federal laws and/or company policy in accordance with current licensing policy. The below licenses are required within 5 months of employment:
• * Successful Registration as an Investment Company Products/Variable contracts Limited Representative (FINRA Series 6 or equivalent and FINRA Series 63).
• Resident Life and Health appointment must be attained.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$123000 - $185000 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role would require candidate to reside near or within close proximity to the East Coast Territory, Virginia and North.
Job Level
