A Day in the Life We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team and manage the Oracle databases within our SAP environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Oracle database management, with specific experience supporting SAP applications. This role involves ensuring the performance, availability, and security of Oracle databases, as well as planning and executing database-related tasks in support of SAP deployments and operations. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases running on Linux, RHEL7/8 in an SAP environment. Monitor database performance and tune the databases for optimal performance. Implement and maintain database backup and recovery procedures. Manage database security, including user access control and data encryption. Support SAP Applications: Collaborate with SAP Basis administrators to ensure the seamless integration and performance of SAP applications on Oracle databases. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues related to SAP applications. Apply Oracle and SAP patches, updates, and upgrades as needed. Extensive experience in creating UNIX/Linux scripts and working at command level. Performance Tuning and Optimization: Analyze and optimize database performance using Oracle tools and scripts. Perform regular database health checks and proactively address potential issues. Optimize SQL queries and database schema design to enhance performance. Extensive experience in table partitioning and index rebuilding. Data Integrity and Security: Ensure data integrity and consistency across the SAP environment. Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for Oracle databases. Set up and maintain high availability solutions, such as Oracle Data Guard or Real Application Clusters (RAC). Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and changes. Generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and incidents. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including SAP Basis, network administrators, and application developers. Provide support for database-related issues and participate in on-call rotations as needed. Train and mentor junior DBAs and other team members. Additional Experience: Hand-on experience or working knowledge of Intersystems Cache/IRIS databases in conjunction with aIDX application. Required Knowledge and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field + 8 years’ experience in the related field or master's degree with 5-year experience. Proven experience as an Oracle DBA, with specific experience in supporting SAP environments. Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, administration, and performance tuning. Familiarity with SAP Basis administration and SAP architecture. Experience with Oracle backup and recovery tools and strategies. Knowledge of Oracle security practices and tools. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Oracle DBA certification (e.g., OCP) and SAP-related certifications are a plus.
