About the position The Human Resource (HR) Office welcomes your application to this Manager role which comprises forward-thinking leadership of College employee engagement and retention efforts alongside management of day-to-day operational tasks and legal compliance. As a core component of the College's structure, HR is responsible for the administration of recruitment/selection, compensation/benefits, performance management, employee/labor relations, training and development, and employment law compliance. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager will serve in a senior role with responsibilities that include both ongoing operational tasks as well as more project-based work such as leading the College's efforts towards increased employee engagement and retention. This position will represent the HR department within the College, in the community, in professional organizations, with state boards, commissions, and other agencies. A team of 4 employees directly report to this position within the 11 members of the HR unit. Responsibilities • Coordinate quarterly employee engagement activities which build community and campus rapport. , • Lead the Professional Development Workgroup, Wellness Committee, and Employee Engagement Committee. , • Manage the College's professional development calendar, ensuring a variety of opportunities by topic/level. , • Develop/deliver quarterly supervisor training on best practices hiring, training, managing work outcomes, conflict resolution, performance evaluations and succession planning, etc. , • Develop (in conjunction with campus leadership) pathways for employee succession. , • Create/maintain benchmarking data relative to indicators of employee engagement within work/campus life. , • Manage the efficient completion of recruitments, providing backup/leading recruitments where appropriate. , • Ensure the accurate implementation/use of salary programs and pay categories including applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements and College compensation plan. , • Collaborate with the Payroll Office to ensure the timely compensation/personnel data updates, including the twice monthly audit of compensation processed. , • Complete data reporting for unemployment, worker's compensation claims, and the Stay at Work program. , • Serve as the College's lead administrator on the classified Union Management Communication Committee. , • Supervise staff and assure effective performances while building a team responsive to diverse College needs. , • Collect data, maintain records, analyze/compile information, and prepare narratives and statistical reports. , • Manage the applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements and advise admin/supervisory staff regarding interpretation and implementation of agreements. , • Advise administrators, supervisory staff, and employees in the resolution of concerns and/or issues. , • Utilize an ongoing cycle of assessment relative to work addressing College, unit, and employee needs. , • Prepare and/or direct the preparation of a variety of written correspondence, internal and external reports, procedures, and other materials; direct the maintenance of working and official Human Resources files. , • Keep current with laws, trends, and technology that may affect Human Resource operations. , • Perform other duties as assigned (of a similar nature or level). Requirements • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent education/experience , • Five (5) years of experience managing or administering HR activities (or similar) , • Experience directly supporting diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in the workplace Nice-to-haves • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 360 applications such as SharePoint/OneDrive, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc. , • Experience with ctcLink, PeopleSoft or similar enterprise resource applications , • Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act, Title IX, Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act , • Best practices for effective employee engagement, development, and retention , • Experience in employment within a collective bargaining environment Benefits • Full-time administrative/exempt annually contracted position , • Initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon education/experience , • Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President
