The Opportunity:
The Actuarial Assistant provides high quality output and results from important actuarial activities, and the opportunity to progress in the business and qualify as an actuary.
Reporting into the Actuarial Lead, you will gain exposure to both general insurance and life insurance across four licensed entities and will suit a candidate keen to be challenged and gain exposure to a broad range of actuarial work. You will work with senior management and contribute to decisions made in the business.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
• Perform claims reserving exercises and analysing results – 30%
• Compile quarterly reserving reports/presentations – 15%
• Support on Solvency II technical provisions and capital requirement calculations – 10%
• Build processes for new clients as they are won – 10%
• Monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders – 10%
• Improve data quality and controllership standards - 10%
• Support IT transformation projects from an actuarial perspective – 5%
• Other actuarial modelling and project work – 10%
You will have the following experience
Essential experience and skills:
• A strong result (2.1) in a numerical degree - preferably mathematics, statistics or actuarial science
• Able to work with multiple priorities and deadlines
• Well-developed communication skills, both written and spoken
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently; self-motivation is an essential skill within a virtual role
Preferred, not essential:
• Experience with reserving software, e.g., ResQ or Psicle.
• Experience with data and programming tools such as SQL, BI or VBA is advantageous.
• Some prior experience with insurance, Solvency 2, claims reserving or actuarial modelling
• Some experience with, or knowledge of, actuarial exams.
