Career Opportunity Overview:
As a Cashier and/or Stocker, take up a leadership role whenever the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is away. Aid in implementing and managing plan-o-grams and programs. Deliver top-notch customer service. Carry out additional responsibilities needed to increase profitability, customer satisfaction, teamwork, whilst safeguarding company resources and reducing losses.
Key Responsibilities:
• Properly unloading trucks based on store routine.
• Complying with company procedures to receive, open, and unpack cartons and containers.
• Stocking goods; arranging and displaying merchandise on shelves; preparing merchandise displays.
• Restocking returned and reclaimed goods.
• Organizing zones and drop shipment categories by following the Store Manager's assigned ordering practices.
• Assisting in the enactment and upkeep of plan-o-grams.
• Helping customers find merchandise.
• Baling cardboard and removing trash; sweeping and mopping store floors; cleaning the restroom and stockroom.
• Welcoming customers as they step into the store.
• Supervising register countertops and bags; executing register countertop plan-o-grams.
• Running the cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize and tally the customer's purchase; bagging purchased items.
• Taking payment from customers and rendering the appropriate change.
• Cleaning the store front and assisting in arranging sidewalk displays.
• Assisting in maintaining a tidy, organized store and creating a safe, secured workspace and shopping atmosphere.
• Leading with excellent customer service.
• Following company rules and procedures as depicted in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and corporate communications.
• Opening and/or closing the store as per the Area Manager's specific instructions.
When the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is Not Present:
• Authorizing, signing for refunds and overrides; managing the cash register; making bank deposits.
• Aiding in strict cashier accountability, key control and complying with company's security guidelines and cash management procedures.
• Supervising cash quantity and performing necessary drawer pulls as directed by Store Manager.
• Monitoring surveillance for unusual activities (customers and employees), if needed.
• Providing cashiers with change when necessary.
• Completing all essential paperwork and documentation within stipulated timeframes and as assigned.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
• Proficiency in mathematical operations including, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage computations.
• Familiarity with money handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit management.
• Ability to use IBM cash register.
• Understanding of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and oral & written communication skills.
• Awareness of safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to interpret and implement plan-o-gram and product presentation guidelines.
Work Experience and/or Education:
• Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) is advantageous.
