Job Summary
Lazer is seeking a Senior QA Engineer, Shopify to join our Commerce Team, where you'll work closely with Senior Shopify Engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality e-commerce solutions. In this role, you will ensure the performance, reliability, and functionality of Shopify-based platforms, working across the entire Shopify stack (online, POS, etc.). As a key contributor to the team, you will create robust testing frameworks, conduct rigorous testing, and champion quality standards that meet both client and user expectations.
The Role
• Testing Strategy and Frameworks:
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for Shopify-based e-commerce solutions.
• Build automated and manual testing frameworks to cover front-end, back-end, and integration workflows.
• Collaboration with Engineers and Designers:
• Work closely with Senior Shopify Engineers to identify potential issues early in the development cycle.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to validate user flows, functionality, and integrations.
• Comprehensive Testing Execution:
• Conduct end-to-end, regression, performance, and security testing to ensure the robustness of Shopify implementations.
• Verify integrations with third-party platforms, including ERP, CMS, and OMS/WMS systems.
• Defect Management and Quality Assurance:
• Identify, document, and track defects in Jira or similar tools, ensuring timely resolution and re-testing.
• Define and enforce quality standards across all projects.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Research and implement new QA tools and processes to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
• Stay up to date with Shopify’s evolving ecosystem to anticipate and address testing needs.
• Client-Focused Testing:
• Conduct client-facing testing to demonstrate that deliverables meet specified requirements.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) processes for enterprise clients.
Further Qualifications
• Technical Expertise:
• 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, with a focus on e-commerce platforms (Shopify experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of automated testing tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Familiarity with APIs and testing tools like Postman or Swagger.
• Experience testing headless e-commerce implementations (e.g., React, Hydrogen, Next.js).
• Professional Experience:
• Proven track record of testing large-scale, complex Shopify-based solutions, including custom themes and apps.
• Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of ERP, CMS, and OMS/WMS integrations (e.g., Netsuite, Sanity, Manhattan).
• Problem-Solving and Communication:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
• Familiarity with Shopify’s APIs and native subscriptions.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing.
• Shopify certifications or equivalent experience.
