About the SIG:
The Quality and Standards SIG aims to bring together anyone in a professional services role with a professional specialism, remit, or interest in setting, monitoring, and enhancing academic quality and standards.
This includes the following:
• Academic quality policy and/or governance;
• Attendance and engagement;
• Assessment and feedback;
• Programme/Course/Module Development;
• Collaborative Provision;
• Committee Officering, e.g. academic boards, quality & standards committees, and a wide range of panels;
• Competition and Markets Authority compliance;
• Continuous/Annual Monitoring and Review and action plans;
• Course/Module health data, dashboards, and reporting;
• Degree Apprenticeships;
• External Examining;
• Office for Students registration and degree awarding powers requirements;
• Professional, statutory, and regulatory body (PSRB) requirements;
• Professional partnerships;
• Research ethics;
• Resolutions, e.g. (non-)academic misconduct, appeals, complaints, extensions, mitigating circumstances, sexual violence and misconduct;
• Sector bodies, networking, and CPD opportunities;
• Student representation and voice;
• Survey design, delivery, reporting, and action plans;
and more! Whether your work feeds directly into:
• strategic decision making;
• working with internal academic, professional services, and student leads at various levels across your institution;
• working with external leads (e.g. External Examiners, OfS/PSRB links, QAA, IHE, partner institutions, etc.); and/or
• a broad interest in the sector’s direction of travel
Our hope is that this Group will offer useful opportunities to:
– Expand your knowledge
– Explore new and innovative ideas;
– Discuss and trouble-shoot sector developments;
– Share and benefit from lessons learned;
– Raise your institutional and professional profile; and
– Showcase good practice.
This SIG is a collaborative and inclusive space, which currently has over 400 members from a wide range of institutions, countries, and job titles/specialisms.
Purpose:
As the Quality and Standards SIG Deputy Coordinator, you will be involved in:
– Representing AHEP and its values within your institution and networks;
– Identifying sector trends, trajectories, and areas of interest;
– Organizing and hosting (largely) online sessions tailored for the SIG members;
– Liaising with guest speakers, delivering case studies, and leading discussions;
– Sharing best practice with Quality and Standards SIG members through platforms such as the LinkedIn Quality and Standards SIG page; and
– If interested, working with the Lead Coordinator to deliver conference presentations, co-author articles for publication, peer support initiatives, etc.
Location: Remote (with discounted places available at AHEP events such as the AHEP Annual Conference)
Salary: Volunteer
