For more information, please visit Ashoka.org Job Description India Giving Day, an initiative of the India Philanthropy Alliance, unites diverse nonprofits under the common goal of sustainable development in India. It amplifies our collective impact and has blossomed into a powerful movement that is transforming the philanthropic landscape in America. Ashoka has been chosen as one of 35 organizations that will benefit from the Giving Day. We are looking for an experienced volunteer who can help us navigate the engagement of potential major donors from the India Diaspora (and beyond) to the Philanthropy. Contributions from India Giving Day will enable us to elect new social entrepreneurs, provide support services to existing Fellows, and launch collaborations between Fellows, corporations, and citizen sector organizations to promote innovation in areas of pressing global need. Ashoka Fellows are the world’s leading social entrepreneurs. They champion innovative new ideas that transform society’s systems, providing benefits for everyone and improving the lives of millions of people. Ashoka Fellows define the new roadmaps that allow people to thrive in this new environment, while providing solutions and demonstrating the how-tos. They are the ultimate role models in today’s world. Impacting millions of people and communities through their work, our Fellows include people like Nobel Laureates Kailash Satyarthi (Bachpan Bachao Andolan) and Magsaysay awardee Anshu Gupta (Goonj), Harish Hande (SELCO), Chetna Gala Sinha (Mann Deshi Foundation), Shanti Raghavan (Enable India), Shaheen Mistri (Teach for India), among several others. Currently, we have over 500 Ashoka Fellows in India in wide-ranging fields such as poverty alleviation, farming, education, livelihoods, finance, local media, and women & youth empowerment, across India. Volunteer Logistics Estimated hours required per week: 4 The estimated duration of the project is: 1-3 months This position is Virtual (Remote) Language Requirements English Desired Skills And Experience • Interest in Indian Diaspora Networking and Engagement • Proven major gift fundraising and high wealth donor cultivation experience • Working knowledge of development practices and principles of the fundraising cycle • Ability to develop genuine and authentic relationships with high-wealth prospects, peers, individuals, executives, and people with diverse backgrounds • Demonstrated skill in working within a complex environment at senior levels with strong capabilities in planning, organization, and management • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports • Strong interpersonal, telephone, and video conferencing skills and confidence in asking for gifts from donors at a minimum of $5-10K. • Serve as a relational mentor and subject matter expert for high-wealth donor portfolio work • Experience in effectively utilizing donor database management systems including Salesforce.
