Junior Financial Analyst

Job description Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Financial Analyst to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for utilizing accounting knowledge to research and reconcile general ledger financial data and assist in the creation of operational financial analysis/modelling. Responsibilities • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial data, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). • Update financial models using general ledger data. • Research and reconcile general ledger data and provide commentary of key drivers of month-end results. • Identify opportunities to gather and improve data quality. • Support month-end close and assist in identifying areas of improvement. • Support ad hoc accounting projects. • Assist in the production of internal financial reports from available data using established processes. • Support FP&A team in forecasting and planning processes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. • Support FP&A team in budgeting process on an annual basis. • Other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Knowledge • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and comfort with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to work independently and extremely detail oriented. • Interest and ability to question and seek out reasoning and rationale. • Ability to work in a remote capacity and maintain positive and productive relationships with a remote team. • Strong computer skills and knowledge of personal computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office programs, advanced Excel skills for data consolidation (pivot tables) data referencing (vlookups) and formatting. • Ability to manage and filter large amounts of data. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Ability to prioritize work and communicate effectively with diverse staff members both verbally and in writing. • Ability to reach out and interact with senior managers and leaders to resolve questions and investigate trends. Required Work Experience • Bachelor of Science degree in finance, accounting, or related field required. • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, including reconciling accounts, and researching entries. • Experience in recognizing key trends and drivers and providing month-end commentary after reconciling actuals to budget. • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and their application to the business, including revenue recognition, capex, and labour accounting is required. • Prior Financial Planning and Analysis experience is preferred. • Experience in a complex, multinational organization is a plus.
