Lead Backend Software Engineer – Python, GCP, IaC, Microservices, AI, Cloud, Remote, UK Are you a seasoned Backend Software Engineer with a passion for building scalable, secure, and innovative systems? We are recruiting for an AI/ML-driven technology startup who is seeking a Lead Backend Software Engineer to design and implement cutting-edge backend systems that drive transformative technology that will have real world impact. Your Role As the Lead Backend Software Engineer, you will: Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust backend systems using Python. Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring scalability, security, and reliability. Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform to manage and optimize cloud-based infrastructure. Design and maintain microservices architectures, including building and managing RESTful APIs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend systems... with AI-driven solutions. Optimize and enhance backend performance, focusing on scalability, security, and resilience. Incorporate distributed systems principles, including task distribution and messaging patterns using tools like GCP Pub/Sub. Lead efforts to implement best practices in backend engineering, security, and system reliability. What We're Looking For 5 years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on Python. Proven expertise in designing and implementing cloud architectures, preferably on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform. Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and database systems (SQL/NoSQL). Proficiency in building secure, scalable, and resilient backend architectures. Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and tools, including task distribution and messaging patterns (e.g., GCP Pub/Sub). Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to mentor and lead a team of engineers. A passion for staying updated on emerging technologies and best practices in backend development.
