About the position The Georgetown Climate Center (GCC) is seeking a JD Class of 2025 candidate to serve as a Fellow in the Center's Mitigation Program for one year following graduation. The Mitigation Fellow will advance the Center's work with various levels of government to establish and implement laws, policies, and practices that support clean energy and climate mitigation. This role involves conducting legal and policy analysis, engaging with policymakers, and contributing to the development of equitable climate policies. Responsibilities • Conduct legal and policy analysis related to climate mitigation efforts. , • Analyze relevant judicial rulings and regulatory texts. , • Track trends and developments important for states regarding climate and energy. , • Write white papers and policy summaries for state officials. , • Engage directly with policymakers to discuss challenges and best practices for climate policy solutions. , • Facilitate outreach and engagement with stakeholders and experts. , • Assist in organizing special events and projects related to climate policy. Requirements • JD Class of 2025 from an ABA-accredited law school. , • Strong research, writing, and editing skills. , • Demonstrated interest in climate change, energy, environmental law, or a related field. Nice-to-haves • Prior experience working with state or federal governments or nonprofits, particularly in climate change, energy, and/or environmental law or policy.
