Description Mukuru is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (Senior DevOps) to join our IT Engineering team. This role is open to applicants based in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with the option to work remotely. As part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our infrastructure development and DevOps processes. Your responsibilities will include overseeing, building, iterating, securing, and monitoring our internal infrastructure and applications, as well as managing external integrations to ensure operational efficiency and system recovery in the event of a disaster. Skills • Expertise in AWS (required) with knowledge of Azure and GCP (desired) • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PHP, Ruby, and Python • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure management • Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and Salt • Knowledge of core app management and monitoring • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities Responsibilities • Collaboratively manage all cloud infrastructure environments • Monitor infrastructure for optimal performance and availability • Implement security measures to enhance system safety • Ensure proper configuration and maintenance of operating systems and software • Enhance monitoring and alerting systems proactively • Optimize system performance and identify efficiency opportunities • Establish redundancy and disaster recovery processes • Create and maintain design documentation and system diagrams • Contribute actively in agile meetings and collaborate with fellow team members • Share knowledge and best practices across the DevOps team • Take ownership of the strategic direction of our internal infrastructure • Manage personal professional development actively Qualifications • Minimum of 7+ years in DevOps, IT, or SysAdmin roles • Solid experience in Linux administration • Familiarity with Agile and TDD methodologies • Experience building PCI/ISO27001-compliant systems (desirable) Education Requirements • Grade 12 or equivalent (essential) • A related tertiary qualification is desirable Education Requirements Credential Category • Tertiary Qualification in IT or a related field (desirable) Experience Requirements • At least 7 years in relevant roles with significant DevOps experience • Proven expertise in managing cloud technologies, particularly AWS • Experience in configuring and monitoring applications, databases, and messaging queues Why work in South Africa, Zaf South Africa offers a vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and a diverse community.
