Description
Experienced Supplier Development Engineer responsible for developing and managing our supplier base for submersible pumps and motors in India. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure supplier quality, reliability, and performance meet our company's standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supplier Development: Develop and implement comprehensive supplier development strategies to improve quality, delivery, and cost
• Supplier Scorecards: Establish scorecards to measure suppliers' performance, providing feedback and areas for improvement.
• Supplier Audits and Assessments: Regularly evaluate suppliers' quality, delivery, and cost performance to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborative Approach: Collaborate with global procurement, global engineering, and global quality teams to identify and qualify new suppliers.
• Cost Reduction Initiatives: Collaborate with suppliers to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
• Long-term Agreements: Negotiate long-term contracts or partnerships to ensure supplier commitment and stability.
• Process Improvement Initiatives: Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers
• Delivery Performance Improvement: Implement just-in-time (JIT) delivery, vendor-managed inventory (VMI), or other strategies to improve suppliers' delivery performance.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Skills and Abilities
• Communication – Delivers accurate, clear, and concise messages orally and/or in writing.
• Problem Solving – Uses a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem, determining the most likely cause by eliminating potential causes of a problem.
• Decision Making – Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; compares alternatives and makes timely decisions.
• Project Management – Develops project plans, schedules and budgets, and keeps project team on task. Manages risks and issues. Prepares and delivers project status reports.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7- 10 years of experience in supplier development or quality engineering preferably from submersible pumps and motors manufacturing background.
• Hands on experience in working with suppliers of casting items, machining components, plastic parts
• Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methods
Computer Skills
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) with PowerBI
Physical Activities
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:
• Continually required to travel
• Regularly required to reach with hands to finger, handle, or feel; kneel and crouch; and talk or hear.
• Working at workshops / factories / shopfloor of supplier.
