Job Overview
The Instructional Design & Technology Specialist has an instrumental role in supporting SCSs growing programs - online, on-campus, remote, and hybrid with not only with the instructional design of online, on-campus, remote, and hybrid courses and programs, but also focused on advancing the quality of course design, development, and implementation.
Work Interactions
+ Daily interaction with the Director of Online Operations, staff /faculty from Academic Departments / Programs, and potentially student workers
+ Weekly interaction with copywriters, graphic designers, A/V specialists, technologists, and CNDLS staff
+ Weekly / Monthly interaction with the Deans Office, the Executive Director of Technology, System Manager, SCS Operations team, and University Information Services (UIS)
+ Occasional interaction with external Consultants and/or Vendors
The Instructional Design & Technology Specialist enables SCS to experience the following:
+ On-time launch of SCSs second round of programs
+ Cost of development of online programs at or less than cost of working with CNDLS or any external party (vendor or consultant)
+ Growth of enrollments in online programs that meets or exceeds projections
+ Net contribution generated from online programs that meet or exceed projections
+ Efficient operations and high-productivity from the in-house resources required to deliver our online programs complete design/implementation of 3-4 online courses per semester
+ Student retention and completion rates that meet or exceed such rates in our on-ground programs
+ National and International reputation for highest-quality online education
Requirements and Qualifications
+ Masters degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or related academic discipline or a Ph.D.
+ 5 to 7 years of experience working at higher education institutions as an instructional developer designing/developing online courses and programs - including 3+ years of experience evaluating course development quality using an established rubric (e.g., Quality Matters, OLC Scorecard)
+ Excellent understanding of instructional design principles, online pedagogy, learning theory, emerging brain / cognitive / learning science, the arts, and technology that influence design learning environments - coupled with experience applying this knowledge to real world projects
+ Excellent learning design abilities and visual design sense ability to design and develop engaging and interactive online courses by drawing on a strong working knowledge of instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices
+
Ability to produce design documents, develop storyboards for learning experiences and environments, and rework content from faculty, SMEs, and outside content providers according to University design standards
+ Demonstrated learning and continual professional development in emerging technologies in educational technology, pedagogy, and teaching and learning methodologies.
+
Ability to research and recommend emerging technologies and instructional strategies to advance course development, faculty teaching, and student learning.
Preferred requirements and qualifications
+ Demonstrated experience and thorough knowledge in creating media based learning content (video, animations, images, interactives)
+ Strong working knowledge of video, interactive video, multimedia, and course authoring software including Photoshop, Presenter, Articulate, Captivate, Audacity, Camtasia, etc.
+ Demonstrated experience/skill working with using web conferencing, screen-casting, and/or other multimedia applications.
+ Skills with web technologies such as HTML, XHTML, Javascript, and CSS
+ Project Management certification (PMP)
+ Quality Matters (QM) Certified Peer Reviewer/Master Reviewer
+ Thorough knowledge of project management methods and procedures

Ability to demonstrate and utilize effective needs analysis and evaluation skills
