The Office of Academic Affairs and Compliance (OAAC), School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is a central office responsible for ensuring the integrity of academic credentials through establishing, executing, and monitoring the academic standards and degree requirements for degree, non-degree, and non-credit programs. This includes monitoring compliance with academic, federal, and international regulations to ensure that policies and regulations are applied consistently. This office is responsible for facilitating the review of academic appeals, grievances, formal complaints, and academic/curricular concerns. This office supports approximately 10,000 students annually, confers approximately 1,200 degrees and 65 credit-bearing certificates annually, and supports academic program faculty directors and staff on all issues related to academic affairs and compliance, student appeals and grievances. The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Compliance is responsible for the management and oversight of the Office of Academic Affairs and Compliance within SCS. This position performs work that is directly related to the mission of the institution while supporting the success of faculty, staff, and students by ensuring SCS' compliance with academic policies and federal regulations that enable academic program staff and faculty to deliver a high quality, equitable, fair, and consistent academic experience.
Responsibilities
• Evaluate and implement policies and regulations in accordance with school, university, state, and federal regulations to ensure School-wide compliance, conducting a policy gap analysis and making the necessary updates to the policies and associated compliance documents to ensure SCS meets its compliance obligations.

• Work with the Office of General Counsel, Office of the University Registrar, and other compliance-related offices monitoring compliance within SCS regarding the school, university, local, state, federal, and international authorizations that affect the delivery of academic programs, both degree and non-degree, awarding of degrees and graduate certificates, and the integrity of the student academic record.

• Provide support and training to adjunct faculty, faculty directors, and academic program staff to ensure consistent application of these policies, serving as the escalation point for requests for exceptions to policies reflected in School-wide compliance documents.

• Direct the Office of Academic Affairs and Compliance in upholding and implementing school and university policies and carrying out all compliance related procedures and protocols as reflected in School and University compliance documents and handbooks.

• Manage an assistant director and an assistant dean and provide direct supervision, coaching, and training to staff members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to consistently and accurately carry out their roles and responsibilities, supporting Tropaia and Commencement.
Requirements
• Master's degree; Ph.D., Ed.D highly preferred
,
• 5+ years of experience working in a higher education administration
,
• Experience working with student information systems is mandatory
,
• Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel is mandatory
,
• Working knowledge of federal legislation, such as but not limited to FERPA, Title IX
,
• Experience supervising professional staff and with conflict and dispute resolution
,
• Working knowledge of general academic policies and processes
,
• Working understanding of general resources for students
,
• Understanding of the scope, function, and duties of a registrar's office and financial aid
,
• Ability to use zoom, google suite, and Microsoft office suite, including excel
,
• Knowledge of Cognos and MyAccess preferred
