Backend and DevOps Engineer

Faura is a natural disaster assessment company that builds digital inspections for homeowners to figure out the survivability of their homes. The hard-skill qualities of the Superstar we're searching for: • Excels at high quality programming: • You grok design principles of software and are are at the stage where you instinctively implement OOP/Functional principles across that plethora of languages you have picked up and love working with (esp Typescript!). • You breathe it! Intuitive, testable code that reads like a fantastic novel? You've written a series! • If we say Uncle Bob, you say? C---- C---! • Generics? A breeze! Right alongside other advanced language mechanisms. • Bonus: The front-of-the-line candidate has at least some understanding of DDD as an Enterprise architectural methodology. • The thought of growing a nascent system into a beautifully mature Enterprise-scale masterpiece makes your heart skip a beat! • Distributed systems orchestration, Event Driven and Reactive systems, CQRS and related architectural patterns have been hobby reading for you. • Has 4+ years of experience of Backend systems development and relishes being an individual contributor. For you, it's all about the tactile nature of that feedback loop between "feature definiton" to "Definition of Done = DEPLOYED!". • Back-end system design for the win!: • REST API design patterns and standards, OpenAPI+JSON:API and GraphQL will be a big part of how you'll start contributing from day 1. Frameworks including Encore and Hasura are top of our todos. • Is polyglottal at heart and gets programming languages. Your experience with multiple languages sets you apart from the herd and is a big part of what allows you to learn new tech efficiently and confidently. • Our tech stack currently uses Typescript and will continue to be based on Typescript for the next year or more... but we may well grow to use both infra-efficient and data-specific langs incl. Python, Golang and Rust. • SQL (PgSQL) is a must, MongoDB will give you a leg up ahead of the crowd. • Bonus: Advanced DB design, modelling and infra management will be muy apreciada! • Bonus to Bonus: You understand data modelling principles and have had some experience with data analysis and perhaps even the selection/implementation of statistical and analytic algorithms (#Big-Data, #AI/ML, #R, #Apache-Spark/Hadoop, et al). • Has a minimum of 2+ years of experience with DevOps tools and strategies and has contributed to its implementation across a distributed platform • E.g. CI/CD via both self-managed tooling like Docker, K8s, Terraform, Jenkins as well as managed solutions like Travis, Github or otherwise. • Is more than at home in shell/commandline (perhaps you enjoy using Fish or Nushell?). You write scripts for tedious tasks with the ease of popping popcorn in a microwave.
