The buyer is a multi-faceted supply chain role supporting the procurement needs of the factory. The buyer works daily to apply the site purchasing strategy and maintain material master data. They buyer builds working relationships with suppliers and provides feedback and delivery, quality, and cost to maintain a competitive advantage for Mirion.
Essential Duties
• Apply site purchasing strategies to daily buying activities.
• Negotiate the best outcomes for Mirion by setting cost, quality, and delivery expectations with suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier performance through feedback from Quality representatives; participate in supplier audits.
• Develop contracts and blanket orders with vendors.
• Work with global Sourcing to validate new vendors as needed.
• Maintain material master data (MM03) with updated lead times and delivery strategies.
• Work toward company and division purchase price variance (PPV) goals.
• Work directly with inventory control team members on outstanding issues regarding inventory accuracy.
• Work with engineering to identify documentation errors and provide corrections to suppliers.
• Communicate obsolescence issues that arise and escalate accordingly.
• Obey all safety rules and regulations for the Oak Ridge site.
• Submit safety opportunities for improvement through the Tier 1 and 2 processes.
• Promptly report safety near misses or incidents to EHS or management.
• Ensure compliance with our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.
• Assist in internal auditing when requested.
• Participate in material review board (MRB) activities as assigned.
• Remain current in all required compliance training.
• Obey all site regulations in accordance with the policies published in the Employee Handbook and by Human Resources.
Essential Requirements
• May include hourly non-exempt direct reports, such as production planners or clerks.
• Proficient in Microsoft® Office.
• Experience with SAP preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills with both work colleagues and outside suppliers.
Additional Requirements
• Ability to lift 50 lb. infrequently.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business management, or related fields.
• APICS certification preferred.
• 1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing plant is preferred.
