Data Analyst (DeFi) & Node.js Developer - Remote Contract

Overview A leading provider of institutional-grade DeFi solutions is seeking a talented developer with both strong backend and data analysis skills to join their team, initially on a 6-month contract basis. The company develops proprietary software that enables sophisticated digital asset operations for institutional clients. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity of working closely with the founders, preparing & analysing blockchain data as well as developing backend systems to support all DeFi operations. Key responsibilities include: Backend Development (50%) • Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance TypeScript Node.js codebases • Build and test backend infrastructure for monitoring systems • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement • Work with Docker containers and Linux environments • Implement APIs and data processing pipelines Data Analysis... (50%) • Analyse blockchain transaction patterns and token flows • Query and investigate protocol behaviours • Create analytical reports and insights • Monitor trends and identify patterns • Support decision making with data-driven insights • Document and share analytical findings Qualifications and Experience • 2-4 years of professional development experience • Strong TypeScript and Node.js capabilities • Proficient in Python data analysis • Experience with SQL and database querying • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills • Excellent communication abilities • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Statistics, or demonstrable equivalent practical experience Technical Requirements • TypeScript/Node.js development • Python data analysis (pandas, numpy) • SQL and database expertise • Git version control • Docker and Linux environments • Basic blockchain knowledge • Data visualisation capabilities Preferred Skills and Knowledge • Interest or background in cryptocurrencies, blockchain and decentralised finance (DeFi) • Experience with blockchain data analysis • Knowledge of web3 libraries and tooling (e.g., Ethers.js, Hardhat, Foundry) • Knowledge of statistical analysis • Experience with data pipelines • Understanding of financial data Contract Details • Competitive salary range: R29,000 - R36,000 per month (paid in USD equivalent) • Fully remote position - work from anywhere (UK work hours) • 6-month contract with a preference of extension to a longer-term role Why Join?
