A Day in the Life The Sustainability Marketing Advisor will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies that promote sustainable practices and products at Medtronic Canada. This role will work closely with various departments to ensure that sustainability initiatives are effectively communicated to both internal and external stakeholders. 1. Strategy Development: - Work with Marketing Leadership to assess, develop, recommend and execute on strategies that align with the company’s sustainability goals while meeting the rapidly evolving Canadian Healthcare standards in addressing its carbon footprint challenge. - Collaborate with the Medtronic Sustainability team to understand key initiatives and translate them into compelling marketing campaigns. - Work with departments/teams to develop internal campaigns, initiatives, and policies to promote a culture of sustainability within the workplace 2. Content Creation: - Helps to create engaging content that highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability. - Develop case studies, white papers, blog posts, and social media content that showcase sustainable practices. 3. Stakeholder Engagement: - Work with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging around sustainability. - Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry groups, to promote the company’s sustainability efforts. - Act as a company representative and liaise with external stakeholders and partners within sustainability networks and hubs. 4. Market Analysis: - Stay informed about Sustainability trends in healthcare through literature, conferences and VOCs. - Support research relating to sustainability tracking and reporting standards for businesses. 5. Event Management: - Plan and execute events that promote the company’s sustainability initiatives. - Work with events management team to implement best practices to reduce waste at events, conferences, and meetings. 6. Reporting: - Track and report on the performance of sustainability marketing initiatives. - Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT CAREER STREAM: Program Managers and Directors focus on tactical, operational activities for a major program with broad or ongoing impact. Levels within the program management career stream typically accomplish program objectives through matrixed employee teams and / or vendors who are not direct reports but for which the incumbent has direct accountability to lead. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, managing program/team performance, communicating project and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of program team members. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of program team members. DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS Autonomy: Manages one or more small-scale, developed or mature programs with well-defined program plans and delivery methodologies. Is accountable for overall program process, performance, and customer satisfaction. Organizational Impact: Provides input to establishing program objectives, timelines, milestones, and budgets . Recommends new policies and procedures that affect program management. May have budget accountability for one or more programs. Program decisions are generally made only after consultation with higher level management. Innovation and Complexity: Problems faced are difficult, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems typically impact multiple workstreams, departments or specialties . Modifies programs management processes to improve program. Communication and Influence: Communicates and leads meetings with internal and external customers and vendors, conducts briefings to higher level management team. Solves issues through information exchange, influence and active persuasion without direct exercise of command to gain cooperation of other parties on program execution plans. Leadership and Talent Management: Leads, directs and reviews the work of a team of professionals and/or vendors who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Direct involvement in daily tasks necessary for successful program execution. Not directly responsible for hire or fire decisions and people management. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, or a related field. - Strong understanding of sustainability principles and practices for businesses, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. - Strategic thinker with strong analytical skill. - Strong presentation skill. Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s degree in environmental studies. - Experience in similar capacity to advise organizations on Sustainability Policies and Strategies. Working Conditions: - The incumbent of this role is expected to be at the Brampton office at least 2 days a week.
